Rhassoul Clay Mud Wash

I haven’t treated my hair to a mud wash in quite some time. I recently ordered some organic Rhassoul clay from Buttern-N-Bars . This is where I get my organic butters from as well. Anyways if you haven’t tried a mud wash you’re missing out. You can apply a mud wash on dry, untangled hair and it will work miracles.  My hair is very thick and it can take a while to untangle. It moisturizes, untangles, and it leaves your hair so soft and you can do anything after that.

See how dry my hair is?

Rhassoul clay comes from Morocco. It has been used for centuries to take care of the body and hair. This is my first time using Rhassoul clay all my other mud washes have been with Bentonite clay which can be found in a couple places in North America. Bentonite clay left my hair so soft but I’ve found that most people that have tried both Bentonite and Rhassoul clay favor Rhassoul clay.

Here’s what you need:

Supplies

Supplies

1/2 cup of Rhassoul clay (add more of less depending on your length)

1/2 cup of water or aloe vera juce (I had to use water I ran out of aloe vera juice. It’s better)

2 tbs Vatika coconut oil (or any oil of your choice)

4 tbs Oil Mix (Olive, Sweet Almond oil, Castor oil, Jojoba oil, Avocado, and Vatika oil)*

*If you don’t have all of these oils use the ones you have

Mix the clay and the oils together first and then add water to the clay until it’s creamy.

Triple Butter Hair and Body mix

Triple butter mix for hair and body
I did not use exact measurements because I really only do that for my science classes for everything else I just eye ball it.
I used mango, shea, and cocoa butter. I didn’t use my cocoa butter only about 5 little disks of it.

Triple butter mix

About a cup of mango butter
1/2 cup of shea butter
2 table spoons of cocoa butter
1 teaspoon of vitamin e oil, rosehip oil, sweet almond oil, and avocado oil.
Add olive oil and coconut oil as you mix or blend until creamy and smooth.

I uses my new blender to make it as smooth as it is. I cannot wait to try this in my hair. My skin already loves it. Please feel free to try this for yourself you can use whatever oils and butters work for you. Let me know how it works out.

Later today I’ll be posting a chocolate frappucino recipe with flaxseed and peanut butter yum.

Green Vanilla Chai Smoothie

I love my veggies the more I eat the better I feel. My 2 weeks vegetarian challenge has changed me forever. I have since eaten meat and my body hates it. I’m limited to seafood and sometimes poutry. I encourage you to try it. After this I’m definitely more creative in the kitchen. I have a smoothie every morning before work. I’ve been making different variations of the vanilla because I have yet to make it to the market for more fruits and veggies. I made this smoothie earlier. I want to post more recipes but I’m afraid you guys will judge me lol.

Green Vanilla Chai Smoothie

2 cups of vanilla almond milk (any milk will do)
1 handful of spinach (any leafy green will work)
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1 scoop of ice ( optional)
2 shakes of cinnamon
2 shakes of ground cloves
2 shakes of ground ginger
1 tsp of almond extract
1 tsp of vanilla extract
honey (optional)

Try it and let me know if you like it as much as I do.

DIY your own All Natural Moisturizing Face/Body Scrub

Coconut Oil from Trader Joe’s

I like mine a little oily but coconut oil is solid below 76 degrees.

For the past couple of months I’ve been leaving the store bought cleansers alone and replacing them with cheaper things that can be found around the house. A lot of products on the market are full of chemicals and silicones, not good for the face or the body. Here’s a simple recipe for a good face scrub that I use, it can also be used on the body. It’s moisturizes and exfoliates and leaves skin with a nice glow. You will need only three things for this,

  1. Organic virgin coconut oil (Olive oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, or jojoba oil) I use coconut oil because it’s what I have and it has so many different healing properties that I love to use it on my skin but if you have a favorite oil then use that instead.
  2. Sugar, dark brown organic sugar is best but regular white table sugar works good as well.
  3. (Optional) A jar if you’re making more for the week.

I made enough for the week and I didn’t measure anything it depends on if you want more moisture (add more oil) or if you want a harder exfoliate (add more sugar), the third option is to make a balanced cleanser (equal parts sugar and oil).

The steps are just as simple as the ingredients. Mix 1+2 into 3 or your hand if you make yours daily. After the first time your use it I promise you’ll notice a difference in the appearance of your skin. Also, ladies coconut oil is excellent as a makeup remover, even mascara.
